Living in One of the Last Crown Jewels of Washington State

I specialize in wildlife photography, mostly birds, birds in flight, and animal behavior. I have lived in the Puget Sound region for 50 years and a resident of Whidbey Island, Washington since 2008.

Many areas of Whidbey are a snapshot of what the greater Seattle area looked like over a hundred years ago. There is less than 1% of the old growth forest left in the greater Seattle area and Whidbey offers most of it. It is a place where one can experience nature in your front yard. As well as many resident birds, Whidbey Island is a key resting stop for migratory birds from Alaska all the way down to South America.

I get the opportunity to capture many different species of animals in their native environment with majestic backgrounds and magical lighting situations.

It gives me great joy when people look at my photographs and see a story or get a sense of emotion. That is my ultimate goal. It is very challenging, but the island gives you endless opportunities.

I hope you enjoy my work and take a moment to appreciate the beauty that nature has to offer here on Whidbey Island.
